What is Filter Truck
A filter truck is a filter used to screen out foreign particles or liquids from the fuel. Most internal combustion engines use a filter truck, in order to protect the components in the fuel system.
Increased fuel efficiency
Replacing a clogged filter truck can increase fuel efficiency and improve acceleration, depending on your car make and model. When you realise that, it makes sense to regularly replace your filter truck.
How can a filter truck make so much difference? A dirty or damaged filter truck limits the amount of air flowing into your car's engine, making it work harder and, therefore, using more fuel. As your engine needs more than 10,000 litres of oxygen to burn every litre of fuel, it's important not to restrict this air flow.
Reduced emissions
Dirty or damaged filter truck reduce the air flow to the engine, changing your car's air-fuel balance. This imbalance can pollute spark plugs, causing the engine to miss or rough idle; increase engine depositions; and cause the ‘Service Engine' light to turn on. More importantly, the imbalance also has a direct impact on your car's exhaust emissions, contributing to the pollution of your surrounding environment.
Prolongs engine life
A particle as small as a grain of salt can get through a damaged filter truck and do a lot of damage to internal engine parts, such as cylinders and pistons, which can be very expensive to repair. That's why regularly replacing your filter truck is so important. A clean filter truck is designed to capture dirt and debris from the outside air, preventing them from reaching the combustion chamber and reducing the likelihood of you receiving a large repair bill.

Types Of Filter Truck
Engine air filter
Found behind the air intake in the engine bay, the engine air filter lives up to its namesake by filtering the air entering your engine's combustion chamber. All combustion automotive engines require a combination of air, fuel and spark. The air intake sucks in air, which passes through the engine air filter before entering the combustion chamber.
Cabin air filter
The cabin air filter, on the other hand, is designed to filter the air entering your vehicle's cabin. With the cabin air turned on, air will pass through the cabin filter before entering your vehicle's cabin. Most experts recommend changing the cabin air filter once every 15,000 to 30,000 miles. Failure to replace your vehicle's cabin air filter could result in decreased HVAC efficiency while also contributing to airborne pollution inside your vehicle.
Oil filter
Another common type of automotive filter is the oil filter. As you may know, the oil filter works to remove pollutants from the engine oil. As the oil travels from the drip pan to the engine, it passes through a filter where debris is removed. The good news is that most mechanics and auto shops will replace the oil filter when you get an oil change. If you're going to take a DIY route, though, you'll need to replace the oil filter yourself.
Transmission filter
Most vehicles have a transmission filter that removes debris and pollutants from the transmission fluid. It's typically found directly above the transmission fluid pan. As the fluid enters the transmission, it passes through the filter. Failure to change the transmission filter according to schedule may result in excess debris accumulating inside your transmission's gears.
Fuel filter
All vehicles with a combustion engine have a fuel filter as well. Located inside the fuel line, the fuel filter works to remove dust, dirt, debris and other pollutants from the fuel. Fuel filters generally look like cartridges that are designed to fit inside a vehicle's fuel line.

Paper (Cellulose) Filters: These filters are made of cellulose fibers. Cellulose fibers are quite dense, so they provide good airflow and a solid level of filtration against dust and debris. Paper filters are generally the most affordable and common type of engine air filter.
Foam Filters: These filters are known for their lightweight and porous structure. They have increased filtration capacity against fine particles, which is beneficial in dusty environments. Foam filters are often used in off-road vehicles, motorcycles, small engines, and other applications where exposure to dirt and dust is a concern.
Synthetic or Synthetic Blend Filters: Synthetic filter truck have increased durability and superior filtration capacity, capturing smaller particles with greater efficiency than standard paper filter truck. High-quality synthetic filter truck like can achieve a balance between airflow and filtration efficiency and are typically more resilient to moisture, heat, and chemicals compared to paper filter truck.
Poor Engine Performance
Under heavy loads, a clogged filter truck may cause the engine to randomly hesitate, surge or sputter. This tends to be more prominent when accelerating, especially up a steep incline. Although there may be no symptoms under normal driving conditions, a clogged filter truck will starve the engine of the extra fuel needed when quickly accelerating. Depending on the extent of the fuel restriction caused by a dirty filter, an engine may also shake or stutter at different speeds.
Hard Starting
Unless totally blocked, rarely will a bad filter truck keep your engine from starting. On a vehicle where a filter truck has never been changed, the dirty filter can cause erratic fuel flow, resulting in longer than usual cranking before the engine starts. Check your owner's manual on filter replacement intervals.
Stalling
An engine that repeatedly stalls while driving could be warning you of a dirty filter truck. Again, depending on the severity of the clog, your car may start right back up without any noticeable loss of power. As the clog worsens and fuel delivery becomes more sporadic, stalling becomes excessive or worsens on acceleration. It's likely the filter is getting completely clogged and it's time for a replacement.
Random Misfire or Rough Idle
A clogged filter truck causes low fuel pressure that results in a lean fuel condition and engine misfire. This can result in poor fuel mileage, rough idling and possibly cause the check engine light to come on. Once that light is on, it's time for a trip to the repair shop.
Fuel System Part Failures
A noisy, damaged or failed fuel pump can be the caused by a restricted filter truck. A clogged filter truck prevents the correct amount of fuel from reaching the engine. The fuel pump will try to compensate for a bad filter truck, placing undue pressure on the fuel pump motor causing the pump to fail prematurely.
Contaminates that get past a dirty filter truck can damage, clog or cause a fuel injector to leak, leading to all types of engine drivability problems. Unless totally failed, replacing a dirty filter truck and servicing or flushing the injectors (done by the pros) should get you back on the road with minimal expense.
The filter truck is replaceable. But before you go the DIY route, be sure the engine is cool, you have the proper tools, and you release fuel system pressure by pulling the fuel pump fuse (check the owner's manual for its location) and running the engine until it shuts off. Releasing fuel pressure is critical because you do not want gas spraying all over the engine or ground. Be safe and have a fire extinguisher nearby anyway.
Replace all O-rings, gaskets and seals. Replace all mounting brackets and check to make sure all retaining clips are correctly reinstalled. Of course, check for leaks after installing.
There are several other reasons for loss of engine power and drivability problems, but it's worth checking the condition of the filter truck first. It's an inexpensive and easy fix.
● Disconnect the negative battery cable for extra safety.
● Relieve the fuel pressure with one of these methods:
● Press the pressure relief valve that’s located on the fuel rail.
● Take out the fuel pump fuse, then start the engine. Let it run until it dies from using all the fuel remaining in the line. Turn off the ignition.
● Place the drain pan under the filter truck to catch any fuel that may spill.
● Take off the safety clips from the filter truck and fuel lines.
● Slip a fuel line disconnect tool all the way in between the tip of the filter truck and the fuel line. The tool pushes out the tabs that hold the fuel line in place, allowing you to detach it from the filter.
● With one hand, hold the tool against the fuel line. Use your other hand to pull the line out. Disconnect both lines, then remove the filter truck.
● Loosen the worm gear clamp that secures the filter truck to the frame. Slide the filter forward out of the clamp.
● Apply petroleum jelly as a lubricant either on the ends of the new filter or on the O-ring seals in the fuel lines. Slide the new filter into the clamp and tighten the clamp. Reconnect the fuel lines by pushing them onto the new filter until they lock in place.
● Replace the negative battery cable.
● Start the engine and make sure no fuel leaks are present.

Filtering Dirt
In general, the primary function of a filter truck is to filter out various impurities in the fuel. If there is no filtering process, it will undoubtedly cause various problems for the car.
Ensure you clean the dirt filter regularly so that the filter's cleanliness is well maintained. This process can be done at home because it is very simple. But if there is too much dirt, then you can take the car to the repair shop.
Filter Water Element In Fuel
The filter truck also functions to filter out various water elements that are usually found in fuel. Fuel can mix with water, and the causes for the mixing can vary widely.
The presence of unfiltered water will certainly hinder the performance of the car. With the filter truck, the risk of mixing fuel with other elements can be avoided and, of course, keeps the car's performance stable.
Tool To Lower The Speed Of Fuel Flow
The filter truck also functions to reduce the flow of fuel speed channeled to various parts or the combustion chamber. That way, the car can run stably in different road conditions.
With a decrease in the fuel flow, various harmful components and particles will not be channeled into the combustion chamber. If other parts or particles enter the combustion chamber, it will cause sediment at the bottom.
Preventing the Filter Truck Not Clogging
When the filter truck becomes clogged, the resistance in the fuel flow will increase. If this happens, it will cause more fuel to enter the carburetor and waste fuel.
When the engine has high rotation, the car engine requires large amounts of fuel, making the engine power decrease due to the lack of fuel supply.
The fuel supply will be channeled from the fuel tank due to a blockage in the filter truck. If you often run out of fuel in the engine area, it will clog the car filter.
